Commercial Air Conditioning Tips

Commercial air conditioners are expensive assets. The knowledge to ensure that your commercial air conditioner lasts longer is valuable. This will help make it so that you don't need to buy as many a/c units over the course of your lifetime. This info can save you money in more ways than that, because if an air conditioner is not properly taken care, it will lose efficiency. Which will cost you money. There are many minor things one can do to get more life out of large appliances. Most of them don't take very time. When considering whether or not it's worth the extra effort needed to follow these steps, remember how much money large appliances cost, and remember how your employees probably don't enjoy working in 100 degree weather.

A few steps one can take to add a longer to life a commercial air conditioner:

Keep the filter clean. Most commercial air conditioners have filters with a plastic frame. (If your filter does not have a hard frame it is a disposable filter that can be replaced at a low cost. Do not try to clean a disposable filter.) You can only clean a commercial filter once: simply by taking it out, scrubbing all the dust off of it, and inserting it back to position. * note: it is wise to turn the filter around when you place it back into position so that you're using the opposite side.

Change your thermostat in small increments. If it is 100 degrees outside do not put the thermostat on 50. That's forcing the unit to work as hard as it possibly can. Simply by making sure the unit doesn't over work itself you can save yourself a great deal of money.

The best way to make your unit last longer is avoidance. Only use your air condition on hot days. Try to avoid setting the temperature lower than 78. If it is a reasonable day simply try opening a window or two. Don't let yourself sink into the mindset of always relying on your appliances. If you really want your air condition to last longer, simply respect it and try not to over use it.
